Ο Δρ. Μ. Καραβιτάκης είναι αντιπρόεδρος ΕΑU PO της Ευρωπαϊκής Ουρολογικής Εταιρείας και Διευθυντής του Κέντρου Προηγμένης Λαπαροσκοπικής, Ρομποτικής και Ενδοσκοπικής Χειρουργικής Ουρολογίας, Central Urology, ενός σύγχρονου πρότυπου ουρολογικού κέντρου που εδρεύει στην κλινική Λευκός Σταυρός και αποτελείται από Χειρούργους Ουρολόγους υψηλής εξειδίκευσης και επιστημονικού κύρους με μετεκπαιδεύσεις σε κορυφαίες πανεπιστημιακές κλινικές του εξωτερικού που εφαρμόζουν τις πιο σύγχρονες ελάχιστα επεμβατικές τεχνικές για την αντιμετώπιση των ουρολογικών παθήσεων υπό την διεύθυνση του Δρ. Μάρκου Καραβιτάκη.
Εμπειρία
Ο Δρ. Μ. Καραβιτάκης συγκαταλέγεται μεταξύ των πιο έμπειρων λαπαροσκόπων χειρουργών στην Ελλάδα και διεθνώς με βάση τον αριθμό (κατά μέσο όρο 3 με 4 ημερησίως και >2000 συνολικά λαπαροσκοπικών επεμβάσεων) και την βαρύτητα των λαπαροσκοπικών και ρομποτικών επεμβάσεων που πραγματοποιεί, εμπειρία που είναι απαραίτητη για την διενέργεια των απαιτητικών λαπαροσκοπικών και ρομποτικών επεμβάσεων με την μέγιστη ασφάλεια και αποτελεσματικότητα.
Βραβεύσεις - Αναγνώριση
- 1ο βραβείο για την τεχνική της λαπαροσκοπικής ορθότοπης νεοκύστης για την αντιμετωπιση του καρκίνου της ουροδόχου κύστης (Πανελλήνιο Ουρολογικό Συνέδριο 2022).
- 3ο βραβείο για την τεχνική της λαπαροσκοπικής αντιμετώπισης του τραύματος ουρητήρα με την δημιουργία κρημνού κατά boari (Πανελλήνιο Ουρολογικό Συνέδριο 2022).

- Παρουσίαση της τεχνικής για την λαπαροσκοπική αντιμετώπιση κακώσεων ουρητήρα με την χρήση σκωληκοειδούς απόφυσης στο συνέδριο της Ευρωπαϊκής Ουρολογικής Εταιρείας (πρώτη φορά στην ιστορία του θεσμού που παρουσιάζεται τεχνική λαπαροσκοπικής/ρομποτικής ουρολογικής επέμβασης που προέρχεται τουλάχιστον από Ελληνικό ιδιωτικό κέντρο).
Εξειδίκευση
Ο Δρ Μ. Καραβιτάκης έχει εξειδικευθεί στην λαπαροσκοπική και ρομποτική χειρουργική στα ακόλουθα κέντρα:
• Clinique St Augustin, Bordeaux, Γαλλία
Στην Γαλλία και πιο συγκεκριμένα στο Bordeaux και στο διεθνούς φήμης Clinique St Augustin όπου θήτευσε δίπλα στον R. Gaston στον άνθρωπο που πρώτος επινόησε, εφάρμοσε, περιέγραψε και τελικά καθιέρωσε την ελάχιστα επεμβατική ριζική προστατεκτομή αρχικά ως λαπασκοπική ριζική προστατεκτομή & τη μετεξέλιξή της στην ρομποτική ριζική προστατεκτομή.
Η Clinique St. Augustin αποτελεί σημείο αναφοράς για την σύγχρονη ουρολογία. Είναι το νοσοκομείο όπου ο R. Gaston, ο σπουδαιότερος εν ενεργεία ουρολόγος παγκοσμίως που για πρώτη φορά πραγματοποίησε, περιέγραψε και τυποποίησε την λαπαροσκοπική ριζική προστατεκτομή πάνω στην οποία βασίστηκε ακολούθως και η ρομποτική ριζική προστατεκτομή. Το St. Augustin αποτελεί παγκόσμιο κέντρο εκπαίδευσης για την σύγχρονη ουρολογία. Είναι βραβευμένο ως το καλύτερο νοσοκομείο της Γαλλίας για την αντιμετώπιση του καρκίνου του προστάτη, του νεφρού και της ουροδόχου κύστης. Υπολογίζεται ότι πραγματοποιούνται πάνω από 1500 ρομποτικές επεμβάσεις ετησίως.
• Charing Cross Hospital, Imperial College, NHS Trust, Λονδίνο, Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο
Στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο, στο Charing Cross Hospital του Λονδίνου υπό τον Mr Winkler όπου αποτελεί κέντρο λαπαροσκοπικής ογκολογίας του Δυτικού Λονδίνου, ο Καραβιτάκης Μάρκος απέκτησε μεγάλη εμπειρία στο κομμάτι της ελάχιστα επεμβατικής χειρουργικής είτε με την μορφή της λαπαροσκοπικής είτε με με τη μορφή της ρομποτικής χειρουργικής και τις οποίες εφαρμόζει με την ίδια ευκολία. Το Charring Cross Hospital, είναι ένα απο τα μεγαλύτερα πανεπιστημιακά νοσοκομεία του Λονδίνου Imperial College NHS Trust και αποτελεί τμήμα του παγκοσμίου φήμης πανεπιστημίου, Imperial College, London. Η ουρολογική κλινική του νοσοκομείου αποτελεί κέντρο αναφοράς της λαπαροσκοπικής χειρουργικής ουρολογίας με έμφαση στον καρκίνο του προστάτη, του νεφρού και της ουροδόχου κύστης.
• Complejo Hospitalario de Pontevedra, Ισπανία
Στην Ισπανία, στο Complejo Hospitalario de Pontevedra, στην Γαλικία δίπλα στον ίσως πιο ταλαντούχο Ισπανό λαπαροσκοπικό χειρουργό M. Ruibal με πολλαπλές βραβεύσεις για τις ιδιαίτερα δύσκολες λαπαροσκοπικές επεμβάσεις που κάνει. Το πανεπιστημιακό νοσοκομείο Complejo Hospitalario de Pontevedra, βρίσκεται στην περιοχή της Γαλικίας στην Ισπανία. Η ουρολογική κλινική του νοσοκομείου τελεί υπό την διεύθυνση του M. Ruibal, ίσως του πλέον ταλαντούχου λαπαροσκοπικού χειρουργού της Ισπανίας ο οποίος έχει καθιερώσει ένα πρόγραμμα εξειδίκευσης πάνω στην λαπαροσκοπική χειρουργική. Στο πρόγραμμα αυτό, το οποίο είναι κλεισμένο για τα επόμενα 7 χρόνια, έχουν εκπαιδευτεί στην λαπαροσκοπική χειρουργική σημαντικός αριθμός ουρολόγων απο όλο τον κόσμο.

Δρ. Μάρκος Καραβιτάκης
Ο Δρ. Μ Καραβιτάκης είναι Χειρουργός Ουρολόγος, εξειδικευθείς στην λαπαροσκοπική και ρομποτική χειρουργική στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο, στην Ισπανία και στην Γαλλία σε ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα κέντρα ρομποτικής/λαπαροσκοπικής χειρουργικής παγκοσμίως το Clinique St Augustin όπου θήτευσε δίπλα στο R. Gaston ο οποίος ήταν ο πρώτος ουρολόγος που πραγματοποίησε, περιέγραψε και ανέπτυξε την τεχνική της λαπαροσκοπικής ριζικής προστατεκτομής.
Εϊναι Διευθυντής του Κέντρου Προηγμένης Λαπαροσκοπικής και Ενδοσκοπικής Χειρουργικής Ουρολογίας, Central Urology στο οποίο πραγματοποιείται σήμερα ένας από τους μεγαλύτερους αριθμούς λαπαροσκοπικών επεμβάσεων στην Ελλάδα.
Μεταξύ των εμπειρότερων λαπαροσκοπικών χειρουργών στην Ελλάδα με βάση τον αριθμό (σχεδόν καθημερινά 2 με 3 μείζονες λαπαροσκοπικές επεμβάσεις) και την βαρύτητα των λαπαροσκοπικών επεμβάσεων που πραγματοποιεί εφαρμόζοντας τις πιο σύνθετες λαπαροσκοπικές τεχνικές για τις οποίες έχει βραβευτεί από την Ελληννική Ουρολογική Εταιρεία.
Εκπαιδευτής λαπαροσκοπικής χειρουργικής στην Ελλάδα και στο εξωτερικό έχει κληθεί ως εκπαιδευτής λαπαροσκοπικών τεχνικών σε μεγάλο αριθμό πανεπιστημιακών, δημόσιων και ιδιωτικών νοσοκομείων της χώρας. Είναι επίσημος proctor λαπαροσκοπικής χειρουργικής της εταιρείας Sofmedica, μιας πολυεθνικής εταιρείας που ασχολείται με την χειρουργική τεχνολογία αιχμής. Είναι από τους ελάχιστους ουρολόγους που εφαρμόζουν τις πιο σύνθετες λαπαροσκοπικές επεμβάσεις όπως την διατήρηση των νεύρων της στύσης κατά την διάρκεια της λαπαροσκοπικής ριζικής προστατεκτομής, την πλήρως ενδοσωματική/λαπαροσκοπική δημιουργία νεοκύστης με την χρήση εντέρου για την αντιμετώπιση του καρκίνου της κύστης, την διατήρηση του νεφρού σε δύσκολες περιπτώσεις καρκίνου του νεφρού όπως σε μεγάλους όγκους, σε πολλαπλούς όγκους, σε ανατομικές παραλλαγές, την αποκατάσταση κακώσεων/στενωμάτων ουρητήρα χρησιμοποιώντας όλες τις διαθέσιμες τεχνικές).
Με έντονη επιστημονική δραστηριότητα στα δρώμενα της ουρολογίας στον διεθνή χώρο, είναι μέλος σε 3 επιτροπές και ομάδες εργασίας της Ευρώπαικής Ουρολογικής Εταιρείας στο European Association of Urology (EAU) Guidelines Office, το τμήμα που εκπονεί τις κατευθυντήριες οδηγίες (guidelines) της EAU, στο European Board of Urology Examination Committee, στο τμήμα που κατοχυρώνει μετά απο εξετάσεις τον τίτλο Fellow European Board of Urology στους Ευρωπαίους Ουρολόγους και στο European Association of Urology Patient Information Working Group. Είναι ο συντονιστής του νεοσύσταστου Γραφείου Ασθενών της Ελληνικής Ουρολογικής Εταιρείας, που σκοπό έχει την έγκυρη και επιστημονικά τεκμηριωμένη πληροφόρηση του κοινού στα θέματα ουρολογίας ενώ είναι και ο υπεύθυνος σύνταξης του επίσημου περιοδικού της Ελληνικής Ουρολογικής Εταιρείας
